Mario Kratz

Chairman of the Board at VCL S.A.

Mario Kratz is the Technical Managing Director of VCL’s parent company, SAB.

Together with his managing directors Uwe Bock (Chief Technology Officer) and Francis Gaspar (Chief Operating Officer), he manages the company with a clear vision and strategic foresight. With their many years of experience and expertise in the field of mechanical engineering, he and his colleagues have set the decisive course for the future of SAB and VCL.

In 2014, Mario Kratz made the strategic decision to combine his expertise with that of Paul Wurth and establish a joint venture. This partnership enabled the company to establish innovative solutions and products on the international market.

Today, Mario Kratz is not only responsible for the strategic direction of the entire SAB-Group with his partner Dr. Jean-Paul Simoes, but also for the implementation of technical innovations that ensure the company’s future viability.

His tireless commitment and passion for the industry make him a central figure in the further development of VCL and a key contributor to our success.

Rainer Zilliken

Managing Director at VCL S.A.

Rainer Zilliken has been Managing Director of our company since the beginning of 2020 and has extensive international experience in the industry. He has acquired valuable expertise in the field of blast furnaces through numerous stays abroad outside the European Union over many years.

In his role as Managing Director, he has quickly established himself as a central figure in the operational business. With his calm and level-headed manner, he manages strategic operations and optimizes processes to find innovative solutions to complex challenges.

His in-depth knowledge of markets and technologies enables him to set a decisive strategic course that drives the company forward and strengthens our competitiveness in the long term.
