VCL Valves on the river – Sustainable Transport to Antwerp

  • Products

We are pleased to announced that our valves have made their way from Port of Luxembourg to Port of Antwerp by barge for the first time. At VCL, we are committed to reducing our CO₂ footprint and the use of inland waterway transport for our valves is an important step towards.

With the strong support of our partner LUXPORT and our geographical location, we are able to operate in a more environmentally friendly manner while increasing the efficiency of our transports.Transporting our oversized valves by water has a significant advantage: it reduces the carbon footprint compared to land-based transport. Inland waterway transport consumes significantly less energy per ton transported, which leads to lower greenhouse gas emissions.

In total, our large-scaled industrial valves are transported in three shipments across the river to the Port of Antwerp, where they are later transferred to a cargo ship for the onward journey to Australia.

A critical factor for the successful shipping of our valves is the sea freight-worthy packaging by the company KLEEMANN. These specialized crates not only ensure the safety of the products during transport but also make shipping possible.

A big thanks to all partners involved and a safe trip to our valves!
